- The band, founded in 1967, still has an exceptional status in the music scene. One reason for this is certainly the ever-present flute of frontman Ian Anderson, his distinctive voice, as well as the sophisticated songwriting of the band. While their first three albums already hinted at the band’s potential, it was with “Aqualung” in 1971 that the Brits perfected their very own style.
On “Thick As A Brick”, released only a year later, the band went went one step further. It consists of a single song, which is spread over two LP sides. The arrangements are even more balanced, the transitions between the different song fragments much smoother and the melody line simply sensational.
