'To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the final album from the late, great Gil Scott-Heron, Chicago-based drummer/beatmaker Makaya McCraven set about building a brand new version of the record from the ground up, cutting up sessions with fellow International Anthem musicians including harpist Brandee Younger, bassist Junius Paul and Tortoise guitarist Jeff Parker into fragmentary arrangements and organic loops. A fitting, vital tribute to the poet and a reminder of McCraven's considerable talents.'
