  • Blue Lines, released in 1991, is Massive Attacks debut album and a foundational release in the trip-hop genre. It combines dub, soul, reggae, and hip-hop elements through a moody, atmospheric lenssparse beats, deep basslines, and soulful vocals blend into a cohesive ambient sound. Tracks like Unfinished Sympathy, Safe from Harm, and Daydreaming establish a balance of emotional weight and sonic space: the album moves slowly, letting textures and small shifts carry meaning rather than relying on aggressive momentum. In retrospect, Blue Lines is often seen as laying the groundwork not only for Massive Attacks future direction but for entire lines of downtempo and electronic music. Its influence stretches across genresfrom trip-hop to future soul to ambient R&B. As the trios first major statemen
