• George Clinton’s activity knew no bounds and, contrary to the usual conventions of the music industry, by 1978 he had signed five bands to three different record labels. One of them consisted of three female backing singers from Parliament / Funkadelic, who worked under the name Parlet and whose debut single “Pleasure Principle” was released by Casablanca Records in March 1978.

  It was Clinton’s idea that two other backing singers, Lynn Mabry and Dawn Silva, became the Brides Of Funkenstein, a character he invented for Parliament’s 1976 LP “The Clones Of Dr Funkenstein”. Clinton got the Brides a contract with Atlantic Records and their first single was “Disco To Go”.
