• Dan Snaith’s full length album as ‘Daphni’ (his Caribou guise is on ice for more song-oriented, full-band endeavors) collects full versions of various tracks he teased on last years Fabriclive 93 mix, which Snaith used to showcase then-unreleased Daphni productions, similar to Omar-S and Ricardo Villalobos contributions to the series. The tracks on Joli Mai are bubbling with life, freeform arrangements of colorful analog synths and bass guitar licks are accented with wooden drums and soulful vocal snippets in vintage Daphni tradition. While most of the record is uplifting, Xing Tian and Vulture veer out towards a sinister edge.
