• Lalo Schifrin (1932-2025), best known for his film and television compositions (Dirty Harry, Enter The Dragon, Mission Impossible, The Eagle Has Landed, to name but a few), began as a jazz pianist working with some of the most important musicians of his time. The “Insensatez” session was recorded during Schifrin’s involvement with Dizzy Gillespie’s band, which explains the participation of musicians from that formation.

  First released in 1962 as Piano, Strings & Bossa Nova (produced by Creed Taylor), this album was re-released by Verve in 1969 with one less track as “Insensatez”.

  It contains 12 Brazilian themes and four originals by Lalo Schifrin – “The Wave”, “Rio After Dark” and “Silvia” from Schifrin’s film score “El Jefe” as well as “Lalo’s Bossa Nova”, written for Quincy Jon
