• There is hardly any other musician with so few published music: William Henry Langford jr. – born 1931, died 1980 called himself Hasaan Ibn Ali. A total of 7 titles are his ‘Output’, all original compositions, all on this Atlantic LP, all recorded in December 1964.
  The saxophonist Odean Pope, who had rehearsed with him often, speaks of a second recording session in 1965 for Atlantic, which was not published because Hasaan was admitted to a prison shortly after the recording, rumours have it that the tapes were burned – and even recordings with John Coltrane are said to exist.
