• “Waiting For The Sun”, the third Doors album and the first to make it to the top of the charts, contained the characteristic top hit “Hello, I Love You” as well as the top 40 hit “The Unknown Soldier”.
  Slant Magazine wrote that “Waiting For The Sun” contains some of the most beautiful, ingenious and catchy songs of the Doors: “Love Street”, a poetic sketch of the street in the artists’ quarter where Morrison lived with his wife Pamela Courson; the wistful “Summer’s Almost Gone” with the pretty chorus “Morning found us calmly unaware / Noon burned gold into our hair” as well as the peaceful piano ballad “Yes, The River Knows”. According to Slant, Morrison was increasingly trying to emulate one of his idols, Frank Sinatra – “they had an insatiable appetite for women and alcohol in common.
